Progress in memorization

Alhamdulillah...
I got the opportunity to recall back my memorization for both surah Yasin and Al- Mulk after Subuh prayer. It's going well and far better than before. However, I do not denied that, there are still have one or two ayat that I recite it with wrong arrangement for surah Yasin. Meanwhile, i'm satisfied with myself when memorizing surah Al-Mulk which I can memorize it well.

Surah Al-Mulk

The Prophet (s.a.w.) wished that every believer would memorize this surah  and know it by heart. He said that this surah will remove its reciter from Hellfire and take him to Jannah.

        Recite this surah at night keeps one under the protection of Allah (s.w.t.) until morning.  If recited on a person who has just died, his soul gets immediate relief.

Memorizing this surah has great reward. If memorized, this surah acts as a protection from the torment of the grave, and it intercedes on behalf of the one who has memorized it on the Day of Judgement.

The Greatness of Al-Quran...~Part 1

Surah Yasin-

Prophet (s.a.w.) said that everything has its heart and the heart of the Holy Qur’an is surah Yasin.

Whoever recites surah Yasin solely for seeking the pleasure of Allah (s.w.t), all his sins will be forgiven and he will be given the reward equal to the reward of reciting the whole Quran 12 times.

If this surah is recited near a person on his deathbed, then for each letter recited, 12 angels are sent to pray for his forgiveness and they remain even when the soul is being taken by the Angel of Death. The angels also  take part in his funeral rites.

Daily Routine...

It has been four days my turn to take care of our group's hamster. It is not difficult to take care of it because I just to make sure the cage is always clean and not smelly. On the morning before I go to class, I will feed them and if I do not have an time, I ask my roomates to feed them. It supposed to clean or wash the cage once in two days but it seem to be clean it everyday.hehe...From my observation, the two little cute hamster were not active on the daytime but it is look like very active in the night.

Our group has selected hamsters as experimental materials in the experiment conducted.  

So far, the hamster learn to go through the maze very well but there is certain time that the hamster did not show the interest to learn. There is nothing much to say here because the progress of this experiment  will be reported in the submission report.

Modelling Process

Step 1: Attention- to imitate a behavior accurately, a person must pay attention to the model   

                                 and then eliminate anything that catches your attention other than him. The   

                                 more interesting the model is, the more likely you are to  pay full attention    

                                 and learn.  

Step 2: Retention- after paying attention, the learner must also remember the behavior that

                                  has been observed. Without it, the learning of the behavior would not be

                                  established.

Step 3: Motor Reproduction- requires you to demonstrate the behavior (actual replication ). 

                                                  The practice of the behavior by repeatedly doing it is important   

                                                  for improvement.

Step 4: Motivation- Feeling motivated to repeat the behavior is what you need in order to keep

                                    performing on it. Learners must want to demonstrate what they have 

                                    learned.

After Maghrib prayer I manage to memorize surah yassin from the beginning till the end. 

However, the problem is I'm quite confused to start the beginning of the next following ayat and the ending of that ayat. It comes when I recite the certain ayat that sound similar with another ayat. But I'll try to improve it..:)

            If you do not hope, you will not find what is beyond your hopes.        

Revision time..!-Part 1

-Social Learning Theory-

That is the topic that I have learned in the class a few days ago. It is so interesting topic because it obviously related in our daily life. I like the way Dr. Lihanna give explanation and the example that easy for me to understand the topic. Thank you madam ^___^.

It is the social learning theory formulated by Albert Bandura. This theory has been useful in explaining how people can learn new things and develop new behavior by observing other people.

It is also concerned on observational learning process among people. Observational learning explains the nature of children to learn behaviors by watching behavior of the people around them and imitating them.

3 basic models of observational learning

1- A Live Model -an actual person performing the behavior. ( watch my mom cooking)

2- A Symbolic Model -a real or fictional character demonstrating the behavior via movies,

    books, tv, radio and so on. ( refer the recipes book and cook the dish)

3- A Verbal Instruction Model -telling of details description of a behavior. ( ask my mom to

      tell steps to  make cake and I do it alone)

Do you know???

Do you know that people need a little bit of pressure to move, act and think creatively? This is because without pressure people will become weak, lazy and too relax. Hence, the booster that needed by our body is pressure.

WAIT!!!

What i mean here is not too much pressure but a systematic pressure is good for ourselves. Too much pressure you will become stress and leads failure.

                                         REMEMBER!!!

People need to be motivated in order to produce the booster inside themselves in order to be successful, have the creative thinking and to be more confident. Pressure can become a medium to be success but remember it also will leads failure if do not control it.

Recall through listening...Part 2

Today, I manage to recall surah Yasin through listening technique. The same technique that I have been used to recall Surah Al-Mulk. So far, it is better memorization than before but there are quite number of verses that is confusing for me. But i will try to improve it soon...^___^ 

Recall through listening...Part 1

Alhamdulillah...

                       I manage to recall surah Al-Mulk through listening technique which  I was mentioned before. For me, it is interesting and effective way because when I recall the surah, I still hear the voice of the qari and then I can imagine the text in my mind.


              I use three step throughout this memorization.

Step 1- Listening and recite the surah at the same time refers to the 
                                                    text.
Step 2-  Look at the text, the arrangement of the ayat and tajwid to 
                                improve my memorization.
Step 3- Listening surah again and recite it at the same time without 
                                           refer to the text.


So from there, I knew where is my weakness, the verse that I was confused or cannot remember because when the  qari recite the ayat but my mouth recite another ayat then that is my mistakes. 


The part that I still have problem is the second page of the surah which is from ayat 13-26. There are one or two ayat that I stuck and cannot remember the next following ayat. Hence,I must give pay attention to that part so that I can improve it.


Alhamdulillah, I was manage it and I am satisfy with myself I can memorize it better. After this I want to ask my  friend to tasmi' or listening my memorization.

This is how you learn to memorize–your practice recalling, not repeating. This means that simply reading a particular piece of text over and over again is going to be the long road to memorization. You need to let your brain practice recalling the data so it can strengthen the same pathways that will fire when you need to remember the information later on. You can’t practice recalling until the information is at least partially contained in your short term memory.

Learn and Apply

On  the last 2nd Nov, we are given quiz to be sent at the end of the class time. The quiz are about the schedules of reinforcement.  This is the time to apply what I have learned in the last class. My friends and I discuss the problems and then decide which categories it refers to. If I had the answer the other friends try to evaluate whether it right or wrong and we conclude it together.

Learn and Revision...

Actually I should post this entry on 31st Oct but I do not have an opportunity to do that. In the Learning class I have learned about the 'factors for effective use of reinforcement'. On that day I was eager to learn and surprisingly I can takes note what have been explained by madam about that topic. Before this, I only listening and jot down just a few of information. Alhamdulillah, I understand the topic but I need to do the revision to understand it more.

Still in the process...

A few days ago, I was memorizing both two surah (Surah Yasin and Al-Mulk) for this week. The technique I used is still the same which is memorize the verses and sometimes looking for the verses that I feel confused when the process of memorization. For example, in Surah Al-Mulk I confused verses 15-16, 19-20 because the beginning of the verses is look like similar. InsyaAllah, next time I will use listening technique.

Al-Mulk

Tonight, after perform Solat Maghrib I decided to memorize surah Al- Mulk. Alhamdulillah, I still memorize this surah. It is easier to me because I already memorize it before. For the 30 ayah of surah Al-Mulk, I still memorize all of the ayah. When the process of memorization I still look at the Quran for certain times because to make sure that I memorize the ayah with the proper order.

Memorization of Surah Yasin

This week I have bad fever and sore throat. So, I have no chance to update my report about the memorization. Tonight I feel better and I take this opportunity to update my blog. Last two nights I have revise my memorization on Surah Yasin. Alhamdulillah, I still memorize the ayah but I still need to look at for certain ayah because I afraid that I made a mistake with mix the ayah with another surah. Besides that, I need to make sure that I have memorize the right ayah for the beginning of next ayah. InsyaAllah, it will be better memorization soon.

The beginning...

Assalamualaikum.

Finally, I have created my own blog. So I have to start writing about my memorization report assignment for the Psychology of Learning's class.
For this assignment I have chosen Surah Al-Mulk.
This weekend I'm so busy with STABAZ'11 program. Hence, I still  have no time to start my memorization that I have already memorize them during my secondary school time. Actually, when I was in primary and secondary school I was given task to memorize  Surah Yasin, Al-Mulk, As-Sajadah and other surah. Insyaallah, it easier for me to recall the verses again.
